Josep Vicent Garcia, l’adéu a un company, a un home d’Escola

Escola Valenciana està de dol. L’històric membre de l’entitat, Josep Vicent Garcia (nascut a Riba-roja, Camp de Túria), ens ha deixat òrfens als 62 anys d’edat. És una gran pèrdua per a tota la família que formem Escola Valenciana i per al nostre país, pel qual ha lluitat tant. Estem colpits. Ens envaeix la tristesa. Avui dijous a les 17 hores acompanyarem la família en l’últim adéu a Josep Vicent, que se celebrarà en el tanatori de Riba-roja.
Diuen que és més fàcil canviar el curs d’un riu que fer canviar el pensament d’una persona amb les idees clares. Així era Josep Vicent. Un home ferm i coherent. Un home de principis i sense fi. Tenia un sentit de l’humor sense additius, cultivava la ironia amb agilitat i la seua didàctica consistia a mirar directament als ulls per damunt del vidre de les seues ulleres. La seua mirada ho deia tot. Malgrat no ser mestre a l’escola ha sigut un home d’Escola. Aquest lluitador per la llengua, el país i l’escola, ha fet costat a Escola Valenciana des dels inicis i la seua visió de la realitat política i social ha sigut decisiva en el conjunt d’accions que ha portat a terme l’entitat des de sempre.
Aquest home de càlcul ha sigut tresorer d’Escola Valenciana moltíssims anys. Sabia, a l’igual que el senyor Esteve, que els diners millor gastats són els estalviats. Feia poc més de dos mesos que s’havia jubilat. Des de sempre ha dedicat el seu temps lliure a l’entitat que ha vist créixer, però des que ja no treballava s’hi dedicava plenament. Parlar de Josep Vicent és parlar del seu somni com a unitat indivisible que eren; tot ell començava i acabava en el seu ideari de transformació de la societat valenciana. Per honestedat i respecte en aquests moments de dolor, no podem eludir el somni polític de Josep Vicent. Ell s’estimava tant la llengua que desitjava introduir el requisit lingüístic en la funció pública i ho defensava amb passió, contundència, sense embuts. Directe com ell sol podia ser. Sempre deia les coses pel seu nom. Odiava els eufemismes. Era valent. No volia altra denominació alternativa per a tan sòlid desig. Lamentem que la mort ens l’haja arravatat massa prompte, sense haver vist complit el seu Somni.
Escola Valenciana i el País Valencià hem perdut un gran lluitador per sempre. El recordarem i intentarem ser com ell deia «quasi perfectes». Ho hem d’intentar, amic.Josep Vicent també se n’ha anat de vacances. D.E.P., company. Et tindrem sempre en la nostra memòria.
